At the end of Act I, Iago reveals in a soliloquy that he is aware of Othello’s trusting nature, “the moor is of a stark and open nature, that thinks men dependable that but seems to be so” and that he will util isation this weakness to his own advantage, ! this is not just the fact that Othello is trusting that causes his downfall, but Iago’s manipulation of the weakness.
