Also, as the narrator is talking somewhat her relationship Peter, she describes their hotel bedw ay in Europe as beingness small and tenebr! ous (Weldon pg. 204) and as a punishment room (Weldon pg. 205). The descriptions of the room help the reader understand the value of the narrator and Peters relationship. Since they settle for a small and dark hotel room, the reader starts to assume that the narrator is also settling with her relationship.
